NPD: Housewares and Appliances Sales Rise for Second Consecutive Year
Consumers spent more than $47 billion on small appliances, non-electric housewares products and home fashions in 2014, according to market research company The NPD Group.This nearly half-a-billion-dollar increase in spending, a 1 percent increase over 2013 home-product sales, continued the growth trajectory begun in 2013, when the industry grew by 4 percent. Honey-Can-Do International, provider of home storage and organization products, has acquired Zevro, a Skokie, Ill.-based provider of kitchenware products. Founded in 2003, Zevro’s line of products includes food dispensers, barware and vacuum-seal food storage containers.
