Defying conservative industry expectations, strong retailer attendance at the August New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF) – the largest since 2009 – resulted in robust booth traffic and sales activity, according to the show organizer.The show utilized a total of 545,000 net square feet of exhibit space across its three New York venues – Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal’s Piers 92 and 94. Vinotemp International Wins Partial Summary Judgment
The U.S. District Court for the Central District of California has granted partial summary judgment in favor of Vinotemp International in a patent infringement lawsuit. Chief Judge Audrey B. Collins issued a detailed order explaining why Vinotemp, a leader in the wine storage and refrigeration industry for 25 years, did not infringe U.S. Patent No. 6,991,117 owned by Wine Master Cellars. National Candy Association (NCA) President Larry Graham has announced his plan to retire following the 2014 Sweets & Snacks Expo after 22 years as head of the association. Sartori Cheesemaker Named Grand Master at Wisconsin Fair
Mike Matucheski, master cheesemaker for Sartori in Plymouth, Wis., was again dubbed Grand Master Cheesemaker at the 2012 Wisconsin State Fair Cheese and Butter Contest after being presented with the competition’s Grand Champion award for Sartori’s Limited Edition Pastorale Blend. This award was the culmination of a successful Wisconsin State Fair competition where Sartori was awarded four additional ribbons.

Consumers are veering off the well-traveled traditional route and branching out into new shopping patterns, according to findings from a Hartman Group study of the purchase decision-making and shopping habits of America’s consumers.
