Natural Grocers to Open Seven New Stores
Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage plans to open seven new stores by March 2013, bringing the total number of Natural Grocers stores to 64 in 12 states by the spring. The new stores will be opened during the next six months in Sedona, Ariz.; Steamboat Springs, Colo.; Helena and Missoula, Mont.; Omaha, Neb.; and Denton and Lubbock, Texas. Krinos Foods Inc., a Greek and Mediterranean specialty food importer, distributor and manufacturer, plans to develop a new approximately 100,000-square-foot national headquarters in the Bathgate Industrial Business Zone in the Bronx.
Krinos was selected by the New York City Economic Development Corp. (NYCEDC) based on its response to an RFP issued in April 2012, and will purchase the site from the city for $3.5 million. United Natural Foods Inc. (UNFI), a leading national distributor of natural, organic and specialty food, announced plans to consolidate its four existing Denver-based distribution facilities into a new 535,000-square-foot facility at Gateway Park in Aurora, Colo. The Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Wuppertal-Solingen-Remscheid in Germany has sued Martha Stewart, Emeril Lagasse, Home Shopping Network (HSN) and some related companies over claims that knives sold under the Emeril brand made false claims of being associated with Solingen.
According to a report by Courthouse News Service (CNS), the Solingen trade name dates back to 1853 and is protected in Germany and the United States. It was trademarked in the United States in 1974, with a first-use date of 1853, according to the complaint.
