NYIGF Sustainability Project Showcases Eco-Friendly Resources
Eco-friendly gifts, home and lifestyle products will be showcased at the winter 2013 edition of the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF) through the SustainAbility: Design for a Better World program.
In addition to eco-friendly and socially responsible products, the display will showcase sustainable materials and production processes from a selection of exhibitors in Artisan Resource, a new GLM-managed trade show matching artisanal craft producers and production resources with U.S.-based volume importers, direct import retailers and wholesalers, which runs concurrently with NYIGF, Jan. 27-29, 2013, at the Passenger Ship Terminal’s Pier 92.

Alexian Paté Back on Track After Superstorm Sandy
Neptune, N.J.-based Alexian Paté is fully operational following an extended power outage due to Superstorm Sandy.
Unable to receive orders and ship products for the two weeks following the storm, Alexian began shipping again on Nov. 12.
Due to the high seasonal demand, the company said it has added more shifts to ensure every order is completed in full.

Kretschmar Strengthens Alliance With Make-A-Wish
Kretschmar Premium Deli Meats and Cheeses is deepening its involvement with nonprofit organization Make-A-Wish, which grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
As part of its donation of more than $100,000 to assist with year-round support announced earlier this summer, Kretschmar will help grant three specific wishes of children between now and June 30 of next year. Kretschmar will help expand awareness for Make-A-Wish through a campaign called “Legendary Wishes.” In addition to granting three wishes, the effort will also consist of year-round support with food donations and cookout events for local Make-A-Wish chapters across the country.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is now playing in all retail segments, this week launching a specialty food business called Goodies Co., a monthly food subscription service for consumers “to savor delectable foods and discover new items,” the retailer said in a company announcement.For $7 a month, including tax and shipping, subscribers will receive a gift box at their doorstep filled with five to eight hand-picked taster samples ranging from healthy and organic to artisan and ethnic. Fairway Committed to Rebuilding Damaged Brooklyn Site
Fairway Market is committed to rebuilding the iconic grocery chain’s store in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn that was heavily damaged by Hurricane Sandy, after having worked to reopen its other 10 stores.
Herb Ruetsch, chief executive officer of Fairway Market, said, “Hurricane Sandy has profoundly impacted each and every one of us.
