Nespresso Sets Goal to be Carbon Neutral by 2020
Nespresso has pledged to become carbon neutral by 2020, and said it will invest more than $546 million to roll out new sustainability initiatives under its Positive Cup program.The program includes commitments for sustainably sourced coffee, sustainably managed aluminum and carbon footprint reductions. Cook’s Warehouse Hosts Japanese Knife-Forging Demonstration
The Japanese Culinary Arts Network (JCAN) is bringing master knife craftsmen to the United States for a tour demonstrating traditional Japanese knife-making, including a stop at the Cook’s Warehouse in Decatur, Ga. The master craftsmen forged knives and demonstrated how a handle is attached during “The Art of Japanese Knife-making,” a three-hour workshop at the Atlanta area housewares store. NutriBullet Maker Wins Preliminary Injunction Over False Claims by Competitor
Homeland Housewares LLC., maker and distributor of the NutriBullet, won a preliminary injunction for false advertising issued against the Nutri Ninja Pro blender, manufactured by Euro-Pro Operating LLC.  The text on the packaging for the Nutri Ninja Pro blender claimed it was better than the NutriBullet based on false statements about certain product features. Fairtrade Products Grow to $7.3 Billion Worldwide
Shoppers continue to reach for Fairtrade-labeled products in ever-growing numbers while Fairtrade’s offer to farmers and workers deepens, according to a new report by Fairtrade International.  The world’s leading ethical label had strong continued growth as consumer sales of Fairtrade-certified products grew to $7.3 billion worldwide in 2013.  Among Fairtrade’s leading products, 2013 sales grew for coffee (8 percent), sugar (22 percent), bananas (12 percent) and flowers (16 percent). Premium chocolatier Lindt & Sprungli has acquired a new warehouse and distribution center in Carlisle, Pa. The approximately 400,000-square-foot space will house a distribution center and, eventually, a Lindt USA retail factory store.
