Specialty Food Association Announces Board Officers, Directors
The Specialty Food Association announced the election of four board officers and its new slate of directors. Those serving on the board are all members of the not-for-profit trade association that represents all segments of the $120.5 billion U.S. specialty food industry and member companies abroad. The board term is two years.
The following members were elected to serve as officers for the 2016 -2018 term:
Chairperson: Becky Renfro Borbolla, Renfro Foods
Vice Chairperson: Matt Nielsen, Nielsen-Massey Vanillas
Board Financial Officer: William Booker III, Smithfield Specialty Foods Group

World Kitchen Honored at International Spark Design Awards
World Kitchen, the company behind housewares brands Chicago Cutlery and Pyrex, received two prestigious awards at the 10th Annual International Spark Design Awards in San Francisco.

Houston based-Fiesta Mart is acquiring 11 Minyard Food Stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex from RLS Supermarkets. Fiesta is a specialty grocery retailer known for its international offerings that cater to the diverse communities served by their stores. Data Supports Flexitarian Lifestyle Trend
Data from Innova Market Insights, which shows a 60 percent rise in global food and beverage launches using a vegetarian claim between 2011 and 2015, supports the trend toward reducing meat intake in the diet.
Launches featuring the term "vegan" also rose to account for 4.3 percent of total introductions in 2015, up from 2.8 percent in 2014 and just 1.5 percent in 2012.

Specialty Food Association Names Lifetime Achievement Award Recipients
The Specialty Food Association, a not-for-profit trade association providing tools, knowledge and connections to more than 3,200 specialty food companies, announced the recipients of 2016 Lifetime Achievement Awards, which will be presented on June 27 at the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York.
