Mouth Foods Partners with Arlo Hotels for Two New York Food Shops

Mouth Foods has partnered with the new hotel brand Arlo Hotels to open two highly curated shops in the lobbies of their Hudson Square and NoMad locations in New York.

Mouth’s team is curating a rotating selection of dozens of American-made craft snacks, including chocolates, popcorn, jerky, cookies and pretzels. The micro hotel brand chose to forego traditional mini bars in its rooms, instead partnering with Mouth to curate the ultimate snack shop for guests and passersby alike to discover new, hard-to-find foods, as part of their specialty bodega made up of several local partners.

Mouth’s selection of snacks, many that are made locally, will rotate frequently with items chosen from Mouth’s expansive online selection. The two new food-driven shops at Arlo Hotels are an expansion of Mouth’s retail effort that began in 2014, when the Brooklyn-based company opened a craft spirits and wine gallery in Dumbo at 192 Water St.  This is its first hotel partnership.

"We're thrilled to be partnering with a kindred spirit," Mouth CEO Craig Kanarick said. "Arlo is doing to hotels what we're doing to specialty food—we're both trying to upset the applecart. Arlo is making luxury hotels more accessible, and we're trying to get great indie specialty food products on the table; there's no pretension, just good stuff for good people. It's also very exciting to continue to take our brand experience, which is primarily online, into physical stores."

Arlo Hotels is the first micro hotel in the United States with a four-star design. The brand was conceptualized and designed by Brand Bureau and the hotel interiors were designed by its sister firm, AvroKO. The guest rooms have an empty fridge so guests can create their own mini bar from the lobby shop of Mouth snacks, coffee from Joe and, at Hudson Square, food for takeaway from Chef Harold Moore. The lobby shop also includes New York-inspired gifts by Exit9 and bodycare by Blind Barber. Each Arlo Hotel property boasts multiple public spaces to dine, drink, shop and relax.

Each hotel shop will have a diverse set of snacks, many with rich stories behind the products. A few standout items that will be featured in Mouth’s shop at Arlo Hudson Square include:

Mouth’s Chocolate Bars: Created by the company’s own team, and including High Five, a luscious bar made of caramel, salty pretzels and smooth peanut butter that's dunked in milk chocolate; and Toffee Break, which has rich almond toffee and classic milk chocolate.

Butter & Scotch Dark & Stormy Popcorn: A Brooklyn-made caramel corn infused with Gosling’s rum, lime zest and freshly grated ginger. Crafted by two creators who combined their experience in the wine and spirits industry with the world of sweets.

Billy Goat Chip Company Potato Chips: Made every day in small batches, these skin-on chips are made by a St. Louis restaurant whose chips became so popular, they launched their own company.

Grey Ghost Chocolate Chip Pecan Cookies: Tender, chewy chocolate chip cookies with a fun spin of toasted pecan bits and a little sweet molasses. Baked fresh every day by a family-run bakery in Charleston, South Carolina.

True Gentleman’s Jerky: Rich, meaty jerky that’s both smoky and sweet and cut in a satisfying and rugged “french fry cut”.  Created in California by grad school friends who started experimenting with an old family recipe and the freshest ingredients.

The lobby shops at Arlo Hotels are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
