White Coffee Upgrades Facility With Single-Serve Line

This year, in conjunction with its 75th anniversary in the coffee industry, White Coffee of Long Island City, N.Y., has made a major upgrade in its production facilities with the addition of an expanded single-serve coffee production line. This gives White Coffee four times its former capacity for single-serve coffee pods.

White Coffee has always been at the forefront of new product industry development:

•The first roaster to offer Swiss Water Decaf coffees in the United States (importing its own green coffee for its exclusive use);

•One of the first roasters to utilize vacuum packages to allow for coffee degassing without coffee spoilage;

•Imported exclusive estate coffees for its customers; and

•Offered specialty gift packaging and single-cup products.

“White Coffee is well-positioned for the single-serve market,” said Jonathan White, executive vice president of White Coffee Corp. “Our new production equipment responds to our customers’ call for convenience and permits White to produce all of our favorite branded coffee products in this popular packaging.”

The cups produced will be 2.0 compatible, for use with the Keurig system and similar coffee makers.

White Coffee’s work in the single-serve arena repeats its history of cutting-edge moves to meet market shifts. In the late 1930s, White Coffee began by servicing the needs of New York metropolitan area businesses. This niche evolved into its foodservice business through success with hotel accounts, which especially valued the unique blends that White Coffee supplied.

The high-quality product produced for these customers led White Coffee forward as a trailblazer in the specialty coffee industry more than 40 years ago. The Whites were among the first roasters to enlighten the public through seminars and “cuppings” on the intricacies of high-quality Arabica beans, and their acquisition and processing.

With the explosion of single-cup packaging comes increased responsibility for environmentally friendly packaging. White Coffee included in its production expansion the capability to make its BioCup packaging, featuring biodegradable and compostable organic single-serve products.

White Coffee recently earned recertification in the SQF Edition 7.1, Level 3, Comprehensive Food Safety and Quality Management certification by the Safe Quality Food Institute.

White Coffee is a third-generation, family-owned coffee importing and roasting business in operation since 1939. As a core part of its coffee offerings, White Coffee is proud of its collaboration with prominent licensed brands.
