Smith’s Consumer Products Debuts KitchenIQ Brand

Smith’s Consumer Products Inc. has introduced its new housewares brand named KitchenIQ, known formerly as Edgeware. 

“The KitchenIQ brand highlights our long-standing reputation for innovation and quality, and clearly reflects our commitment to producing superior products that are smart for the kitchen,” said Dan Glidden, CEO, Smith’s Consumer Products. “KitchenIQ confirms to consumers that they are making a smart decision in buying our products and we look forward to building on our 127-year heritage under this vibrant new brand name.”

The name change comes on the heels of the recent decision by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to cancel the Edgeware trademark registrations.

“While we strongly disagree with this decision, and it does not require us to make an immediate name change, we believe it’s best to keep our energy focused on providing our customers with the innovation, quality and value they have come to expect from Smith’s,” continued Glidden. 

U.S.-based Smith’s is a world leader in the design and manufacture of a full line of manual and electric knife, scissors and tool sharpeners, and edge care products. The company’s housewares sharpeners have quickly become top-selling items in their category, and its latest manual and electric adjustable models have received several highly regarded awards recognizing their innovation and quality, including the prestigious 2013 Red Dot Design Award and Housewares Design Award, according to a company statement. Smith’s housewares product line also includes the expanding Kitchen Tools line featuring the top-rated Better Zester and other graters. Smith’s also features the Fire Wire line of grilling accessories, including the Fire Wire flexible grilling skewer.
