Saks Partners With Pusateri’s Fine Foods on Food Halls

Pusateri’s Fine Foods will be the operating partner for Saks Fifth Avenue’s food halls in Canada, beginning with the Toronto Eaton Centre and Sherway Gardens locations, both opening in spring 2016.

“We are thrilled to partner with Pusateri’s as our food purveyor for the exciting launch of Saks Fifth Avenue in Canada,” said Richard Baker, governor and CEO of Hudson’s Bay Co., the Toronto-based parent company of Saks Fifth Avenue as well as Lord & Taylor, Hudson’s Bay and Home Outfitters. “With their high standard of quality and exceptional selection of fine foods, Pusateri’s will help to deliver an elevated customer experience synonymous with the Saks Fifth Avenue brand.”

The food hall installations will create a distinctive food experience for Saks Fifth Avenue customers through several sophisticated offerings, including specialized sit-down food options, incomparable products, and a variety of engaging culinary stations – all showcased within a fresh and modern atmosphere, Hudson’s Bay said in a statement.

“Pusateri’s is delighted to be working with Saks Fifth Avenue to operate the food hall installations for the world-renowned luxury retailer’s Canadian expansion,” said Frank Luchetta, president of Pusateri’s Fine Foods. “Saks Fifth Avenue’s superior dedication to exceptional quality and first-class customer service reflects the commitment to client care Pusateri’s holds at its core.”

Family-owned and -operated for more than 50 years, Pusateri’s operates three retail stores with a fourth under construction and expected to open in 2015, according to the company website. The company, which was founded in 1957 by Salvatore Pusateri – who, having worked on his family’s citrus orchards and olive groves in Sicily, immigrated to Canada – began as a small fruit and vegetable shop. His son, Cosimo Pusateri, took over the family business in 1986, and grew the family business into a gourmet food emporium.

Saks Fifth Avenue operates 39 full-line stores in 22 states, five international licensed stores, 80 Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH stores and www.saks.com, the company’s online store.
