YARMOUTH, Maine, June 17, 2026 — Rogers Collection, a Maine-based importer of estate-produced Mediterranean foods, is proud to announce a special collaboration with Valserena and the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium (Consorzio del Formaggio Parmigiano Reggiano) for a public Parmigiano Reggiano wheel cracking at the 2026 Specialty Food Association Fancy Food Show.
The event will take place on Monday, June 29, at 12:00 PM at Booth #848 in New York City’s Javits Center and will feature the ceremonial opening of a 24-month-aged wheel of Valserena Parmigiano Reggiano. The wheel cracking will celebrate the craftsmanship, history, and protected origins of one of Italy’s most iconic PDO cheeses while highlighting the enduring partnership between Italian producers and the American specialty food community.
Guests will have the opportunity to witness the traditional opening of an authentic wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano, a process that reflects centuries of artisanal cheesemaking and the strict production standards safeguarded by the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium.
About Valserena
Founded in 1879 in the province of Parma, Valserena is among the oldest Parmigiano Reggiano dairies in continuous operation. For five generations, the Serra family has overseen every stage of production, from raising cattle and growing forage to crafting and aging Parmigiano Reggiano on the estate.
Valserena is one of the few dairies dedicated exclusively to the milk of the Vacca Bruna Alpina (Brown Cow), a historic breed prized for producing milk particularly well suited to the making of Parmigiano Reggiano. The dairy is a member of the Consorzio Disolabruna® and remains committed to traditional production methods that express the unique terroir of the Parmigiano Reggiano region.
Today, Valserena is led by Gian Domenico Serra, who continues the family’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and stewardship while expanding awareness of Parmigiano Reggiano throughout international markets.
About the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium
Founded in 1934, the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium protects, promotes, and safeguards the authenticity of Parmigiano Reggiano PDO. The Consortium oversees production standards, quality controls, and international protection efforts to ensure that every wheel bearing the Parmigiano Reggiano mark reflects the traditions, territory, and craftsmanship that have defined the cheese for nearly a thousand years.
