Tabletop and Gourmet Housewares Best New Product Awards Presented to Five NY NOW Exhibitors

Tabletop + Gourmet Housewares Best New Product Awards were awarded Aug. 14 to five exhibitors at NY NOW®, the Market for Home, Lifestyle + Gift, with Typhoon® Homewares’ Typhoon Skandi Cast Iron Casserole recognized as “Best of Market.” Additional winners were recognized for excellence in four categories – cooking, dining, gourmet accessories and kitchen preparation – and all five honorees qualified to compete for NY NOW’s “Best of HOME” Award, which was determined by online balloting at bit.ly/NYNOW_HOME. The Summer 2015 edition of NY NOW®, the Market for Home, Lifestyle + Gift, concluded Wednesday, Aug. 19, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. “The slate of winners and finalists for the Tabletop + Gourmet Housewares Best New Product Awards represents exciting new advances in design and utility,” said Marc Delman, Tabletop + Gourmet Housewares sales manager. “This suite of exceptional products points to the incredible diversity in form and function showcased by NY NOW exhibitors.” Winners and finalists of the summer 2015 Tabletop + Gourmet Housewares “Best New Product Awards” are: 

Best of Market: 

Typhoon® Homewares (New York) for its Typhoon Skandi Cast Iron Casserole, a pre-seasoned cast iron casserole with porcelain lid. It has a 2-quart capacity and an elegantly curved body for superb heat retention, which makes it efficient and economical for cooking. 

Cookware:

Winner: 

 

Zojirushi America Corporation (Torrance, Calif.) for its Fresh Brew Plus Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker EC-YSC100, which brews coffee at an optimal 200 F for superior flavor extraction. Vacuum-insulated stainless steel carafe keeps coffee hot for hours without the “burnt” flavor.

Finalist: Arbiter (Saint Louis, Mo.) for its La Gabbianella Chicken Roaster.

Finalist: Gien (Rouen, France) for its Sologne Rectangular Large Baker. Dining:

IPPINKA (Toronto, Canada) for its Grab Opener, a bottle opener that is functionally designed to allow the user to grab and open bottled beverages in one quick action and with one hand. It features a rare-earth magnet that holds the bottle cap in place and keeps it unbent while opening the bottle, and keeps it on a refrigerator door for easy access.

Finalist: Picnic at Ascot (Hawthorne, Calif.) for its Diamond Picnic Cooler for 4 -Wheeled.

Finalist: Mepra S.p.A (New York) for its Due Flatware Rainbow Finish. Gourmet Accessories:

AvoSeedo LLC (Frankfurt, Germany) for its AvoSeedo, a small plastic bowl featuring an indentation with a hole through which a single avocado seed can be placed in a sufficiently large, water-filled pot for germination. 

Finalist: ADK® Packworks (Vergennes, Vt.) for its Floral Market Basket.

Finalist: Rolser (Pedreguer,Spain) for its COM MF 8 Shopping Cart. Kitchen Preparation:

Coltellerie Berti for MATCH (Jersey City, N.J.) for its Nocciola Knife, with one side of the blade made to slice a fresh piece of bread; and the other side made for spreading.

Finalist: Lifetime Brands Inc (Garden City, N.Y.) for its Reo Standing Basting Brush. 

Finalist: IPPINKA (Toronto, Canada) for its Abeego Food Sheets. Winners then competed for the NY NOW “Best of HOME” Award, which was determined through online voting (see previous story), and the winner was announced on Aug. 19, before the conclusion of the summer 2015 edition of NY NOW. The judges for the Tabletop + Gourmet Housewares Best New Product Awards were: Sharon Franke of Good Housekeeping; Stacey Goldberg of Gourmet Insider; Laurie O’Halloran of Home Style; Lisa Cowley of HomeWorld Business; Alison Zisko of HFN; Amy Stavis of Tableware Today; and Anna Wolfe of The Gourmet Retailer. Criteria for selection included innovative design, product solution, aesthetic appeal, creativity and new material or technology All exhibitors presenting new products in the Tabletop + Gourmet Housewares section of NY NOW’s HOME collection were eligible for the awards. Presented as part of NY NOW’s HOME Collection, Tabletop + Gourmet Housewares featured 350 exhibitors offering high-end resources in cookware, bakeware, kitchen gadgets, kitchen textiles, bar and wine accessories, small electrics, specialty food, cookbooks, storage/containers, and picnic/barbecue accessories.
