Las Vegas Market Hosts Housewares Design Awards Celebration

LAS VEGAS – (December 1, 2016) – For the first time ever, Las Vegas Market will host the Housewares Design Awards Gala, a celebration of winners and finalists in 12 categories, on Tuesday, January 24, 2017.  During the two hour reception, 60 finalists will be recognized; 12 “Best in Category” winners will be announced; a trio of “Best of the Best” overall products — Gold, Silver and Bronze winners— will be feted; and the inaugural “Design Influencer of the Year” award will be presented to Mo Mullen, director of business development for West Elm LOCAL.

“Las Vegas Market recognizes the key role that housewares innovation plays in today’s society, and we are pleased to host the Housewares Design Awards as part of our ongoing commitment to the gourmet category,” said Dorothy Belshaw, president of Gift & Home Décor, International Market Centers. “We look forward to saluting 2017 Housewares Design Awards finalists and winners for developing unique and differentiated products that reflect an overall commitment to innovation and design excellence – a vision which dovetails perfectly with our position as the leading furniture, home decor and gift destination in the western United States.”

The Housewares Design Awards were founded in 2003 by HomeWorld Business to honor supplier efforts within the industry to create new ways to improve everyday living, and recognize excellence in 12 core housewares categories. Las Vegas Market is hosting the awards as an extension of its overall growth strategy for gift-oriented housewares, tabletop and specialty food.

Las Vegas Market has experienced steady increases in gourmet housewares exhibitors and retailer attendance, and hosting the Housewares Design Awards supports and extends growth in this important industry segment. Las Vegas Market identified the gourmet category as one of its strategic building blocks and launched the gourmet housewares presentation on C11 in Summer 2015. Since that time, the floor has rapidly expanded to its current 60% occupancy, with expected sold-out status to be achieved by the end of 2017. Beyond the concentration of nearly 300 gourmet lines on C11, the Las Vegas Market now boasts 400+ gourmet-related resources across its 40 showroom floors and in The Pavilions, which showcase gift and home temporary exhibitors.
