The Growing GC Buying Group Announces Valuable Additions to the Team

DALLAS, November 18, 2020 –  New programs and opportunities have led GC Buying Group to strengthen the GC team in order to expand support for Store and Vendor Members. Industry veteran Ethan Hamme has joined GC to oversee the newly opened Dallas Market Center showroom and to serve as liaison between the DMC and GC. “Ethan has a diverse background that extends from tabletop and gift to home and housewares, making him the ideal choice for working alongside GC vendors and retailers,” stated Janis Johnson, president and founder of GC Buying Group/Gourmet Catalog. “Ethan’s immediate responsibilities will range from developing product assortments to reinforcing the relationship among all members of the Group,” added Johnson.  

Dallas has been home to GC since its 1981 beginning, almost 40 years ago. In anticipation of the changing times brought about by the pandemic of 2020, GC will expand activities and events for the Group by working closely with the DMC to meet the needs of the membership. The first event will be the recently announced move of GC’s Start the Year Member Conference to Dallas in March of 2021,

Ethan’s guidance will help to grow and build an important venue and relationship,” Johnson continued. 

Haylea Thomason, joins GC as PR Coordinator, focusing on social media across all channels of GC, including Buying Group, CreateMyPlace.com and Learning How to Cook. Haylea holds a degree in Marketing with a background in public relations and photography.

Longtime team members Nikki Johnson, CFO; Maryann Samsa, Buying Group Coordinator; Jaci Milliron, Store Coordinator; and Stephanie Rogers, Technology/CreateMyPlace.com, along with Marisa Lizana, Graphic Design, round out the team. Collaborating daily in a healthy and socially-distanced environment, the team reports to GC founder Janis Johnson, who continues in her role as president of GC.
