Bob’s Red Mill Introduces New Sourced Non-GMO Pledge Emblem to Reinforce Commitment to Non-Bioengineered Ingredients

Portland, Oregon – July 12, 2016 - Bob’s Red Mill, the leading provider of whole grain foods for more than 40 years, has unveiled a new Sourced Non-GMO Pledge emblem to indicate to consumers the company’s long-standing commitment to sourcing only ingredients that have not been genetically engineered through the use of modern biotechonology. The emblem, which the company is adding to all packaging, means that all ingredients sourced for a product have been declared by their suppliers to have been made without the use of bioengineering.

“While our commitment to sourcing non-GMO ingredients has always been a part of how we operate, our intent with the Sourced Non-GMO Pledge emblem is to make that commitment very visible to consumers,” said Matthew Cox, Vice President of Marketing at Bob’s Red Mill. “As more and more people express a desire to know exactly what is in the food products they consume, our aim is to be as transparent as possible.”

Bob’s Red Mill holds rigorous food safety standards including Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification, Good Manufacturing Practices, and annual third party audits of food safety and sanitation programs. Bob’s Red Mill believes in cultivating trusted relationships with farmers and suppliers built on many years of partnership. The company secures documentation verifying that no ingredient was genetically engineered and conducts audits of suppliers annually. The company also sources certified organic ingredients whenever feasible, and by definition, foods that are Certified USDA Organic are made only with ingredients that have not been bioengineered.

The new Sourced Non-GMO Pledge emblem is the company’s way of signifying these practices to consumers in an easy, at-a-glance fashion.

“With our Sourced Non-GMO Pledge, we’re addressing possible consumer questions in a proactive way,” said Cox. “Our consumers hold us to very high standards, and this new Pledge is just one more way to instill confidence that we continue to meet those standards.”

In addition to the emblem appearing on packaging, the complete Bob’s Red Mill Sourced Non-GMO Pledge is available through the company’s website, bobsredmill.com.
