Ambiente 2020 tastes great: Dining experiences and global kitchen trends of tomorrow

In 2020 the Dining product group will be the global platform for everything that makes cooking and household chores easier and turns a shared meal into an unforgettable experience. Ranging from treasures in tableware, through innovative kitchen accessories, storage solutions and small electrical appliances to unique hospitality systems, this area will cover all the dining trends of tomorrow, represented by over 2,100 exhibitors on sixteen hall levels. Last time, Ambiente hosted a total of 4,460 exhibitors from over 90 countries.

Halls 1 and 3: right at the heart of international lifestyle trends

Whether it’s amazing accessories and textiles for the kitchen, innovative drinks machines, drinks bottles while on the go or gourmet gifts for our near and dear ones – Hall 1 stands for everything that gives us a new experience of the good life, both at home and on the road. As on previous occasions, the line-up will include Lifetime Brands Europe, who will be presenting their innovative products and a variety of brands in Hall 1.1. Well-known exhibitors in Hall 1.2 will be the German baking specialist Birkmann, the New York cult brand Oxo, the iconic artisan studio Peugot Saveurs and the Canadian cooking brand Trudeau. They will be joined by Honeybee Wrap, a newcomer from down under. The reusable bees’ wax packaging from this Australian manufacturer is an eco-friendly alternative to plastic wrapping and a sustainable way to keep food fresh. Another new exhibitor will be Strawbuddy Sweden, whose reed-based drinking straws show how a good conscience is still possible in an age of drinks-to-go products. Then there is the young German company Air Up, a beverage tech newcomer with an innovative bottle that adds a bit of taste to water simply by giving it a fragrance.

Right at the heart of the latest trends a range of exhibitors will be presenting small electrical gadgets and small kitchen appliances, cutting tools, cookware, cutlery and BBQ products – all set within the international lifestyle environment of the forthcoming Ambiente, in Hall 3. This year they will include the small electrical appliance manufacturers Kitchen Aid, Smeg and Vitamix as well as leading German brands such as Fissler, Rösle, WMF and Zwilling. Two of this year’s returning exhibitors at Ambiente will be the Korean slow juicer brand Hurom and the traditional German brand Cloer. Also, a bold use of colour on small electrical appliances will be celebrated with all the senses at Ambiente. Ariete is a good example, a Tuscan company with a pastel-coloured vintage collection that underlines this colour euphoria in small electrical appliances, while also being an ode to the 1960s.

Any trade visitors looking for innovative coating options will enjoy Hall 3.0 with its wide selection of international coating experts, including Therna, Weilburger and Whitford. Here, too, there are no limits to the colour options, ranging from mustard yellow to mint green.

From casual to fine dining: tableware treasures in Hall 4

What are the answers of the international tableware avant-garde to a world which, gastronomically, is becoming increasingly integrated? How can tableware tell a story? Whether it’s casual or fine dining, Hall 4 with its three levels will have everything that’s worth celebrating through the love for good food. In Hall 4.0 visitors can expect to see German market leaders such as ASA, Leonardo and Ritzenhoff as well as a returning exhibitor, Fiskars, with its brands Iittala and Royal Doulton. Another highlight in Hall 4.0 will be the Dining Talents area where Ambiente 2020 will be putting an even greater emphasis on its expertise in handcrafted products. “With Ambiente as a trend indicator for everything that makes tableware special, we’ll be focusing on something that is currently at the very heart of the development: the desire for sustainability and premium quality. This has resulted in a large-scale return to arts and crafts. Whether in the hospitality sector or informal, casual dining among friends, there’s a demand for custom-made products that express appreciation for craftsmanship, originality and expertise. The Dining Talents area at Ambiente 2020 will demonstrate the capabilities of the international artisan avant-garde, with its focus on artisan production methods and smart ideas that suit future lifestyles,” says Nicolette Naumann, Vice President of Ambiente.

Trade visitors looking for tableware treasures in the premium segment will also enjoy Hall 4.1, where they will meet manufacturers such as the Hungarian Herend Porcelain Manufactory, Robbe & Berking, Rosenthal, Villeroy & Boch and Zwiesel. Villeroy & Boch are a good example of unexpectedly creative designs in fine and casual dining, showing how tableware can serve as a backdrop to the growing trend towards closeness to nature. The tableware collection Manufacture Rock of this traditional German brand adds a natural impression of slate that bridges the gap between premium porcelain and the imitation of natural materials.

The French premium brand Christofle, who are returning to Ambiente after several years, has a new collection entitled Created to be Shared. This picks up two global dining trends, sharing and interaction, whereby the sharing of food is celebrated as an intensely communal experience.

In Hall 4.2 trade visitors with a focus on high-volume trade will find everything they need for daily life at the table. This is where well-known international manufacturers of glass, porcelain and ceramics together with cutlery brands will be showcasing their new products. They will include the French ARC Group with its brands Acropal and Luminarc, the US family enterprise Gibson Overseas, the Turkish glassware manufacturer Pasabahce and the porcelain manufacturer Seltmann Weiden. Another newcomer will be Galileo Spa, an Italian manufacturer whose label Villa d’Este Home Tivoli with its brightly colourful cutlery and tableware exude a special Mediterranean dining ambience.

Hall 6: new highlights for HoReCa decision-makers

Hotel operators, restaurateurs and all other HoReCa decision-makers will experience the forthcoming Ambiente as a leading international platform for the front-of-house business and will see it as an absolute must in the global hospitality industry. The new HoReCa Hall 6.0 is a specially created venue with even more specific networking opportunities between high-ranking representatives of leading HoReCa providers and senior decision-makers in the HoReCa industry. This new opportunity at Ambiente 2020 will be seized, in particular, by specialists such as Bauscher, Bonna, RAK, Revol, Schönwald, Steelite, Tafelstern and Zieher, who will be exhibiting their hospitality collections in the new hall. Ambiente’s answer to global growth in the hospitality sector also includes the new HoReCa Academy in Hall 6.0 with its high-calibre line-up of international speakers as an exclusive additional offer to the industry. A wide-ranging programme of talks and networking opportunities will be available on all five days of Ambiente, looking at hospitality trends and developments from a variety of global perspectives: What are today’s worldwide trends in tableware, buffets and food design? How is the industry affected by the increasing tendency towards healthy eating? How can you create unforgettable experiences, and what is the role of authenticity in this process?

An intercontinental selection of glass, porcelain, ceramics and melamine dinnerware can be found in Hall 6.1, featuring European brands such as Vista Alegre and other well established brands with their OEM products, including Shinepukur Ceramics from Bangladesh and the Indonesian KIG Group with their Kopin brand. In Hall 6.2 the focus will be very much on functional dinnerware and table decorations. Ranging from crystal candle holders to table lamps, exhibitors such as Arda Cam and Vidrios San Miguel will be showcasing everything that makes a dining table special. One new feature this year will be a Brazilian joint stand, organised by the non-profit organisation ABUP.

Hall 12: Storage solutions for the kitchen and the home

Whether it’s meal prep solutions or storage space for urban habitats, Hall 12 at Ambiente will provide the overall framework for smart storage solutions in the house. Hall 12.0 will include brands such as Lock&Lock, Sistema and Alfi, featuring BPA-free mugs, perfect combinations of boxes for each person’s individual office lunch and ready-to-go solutions for increasingly mindful forms of nutrition. Visitors can also look forward to a wide range of weighing and measuring tools, silicon bakeware and even more storage products – offered by brands such as Curver, Fackelmann, Metaltex and TFA Dostmann. Trade visitors with an interest in storage and cleaning products for household purposes and for food will enjoy Hall 12.1 where organisational aids are offered, made by well-known exhibitors such as the traditional German manufacturers Haug, Keeper and M. Westermann with the Wesco brand and the Italian manufacturers Mazzei and Tontarelli.

Global Sourcing Dining: Influences from the entire world

Covering four hall levels, Global Sourcing in Hall 10 will have a broad spectrum of products for high-volume trade buyers in the dining segment, focusing on table, kitchen and houseware. Premium products can be found in Hall 10.2. Visitors will find that the Global Sourcing halls are an ideal source of table decorations, premium dinnerware, natural fibre baskets as well as kitchen utensils for global dishes such as tajine and naan bread – all of them products made in the exhibitors’ countries of origin and featuring influences from the entire world. One of this year’s newcomers will be a stand curated by the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development with a large number of Korean startups in Hall 10.3. Hall 10.4 will have a particularly large number of joint stands this year – among them a stand organized by Coirboard, an Indian government initiative to promote the coir industry.

The next Ambiente will be take place 7 to 11 February 2020.
