More than 400 international suppliers, representing 60 countries from around the world, will be among 2,800-plus exhibitors at the summer 2014 edition of NY NOW, the Market for Home + Lifestyle that runs Aug. 16-20 at New York’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94.
“No other U.S. market offers the depth and breadth of global resources available at NY NOW,” said Christian Falkenberg, NY NOW director and senior vice president. “NY NOW allows buyers to ‘shop the world’ with international suppliers in all four NY NOW collections, as well as in Artisan Resource, which runs concurrently at Pier 94.”
Pavilions and individual NY NOW exhibitors represent Afghanistan, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, Cambodia, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Niger, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Rwanda, Spain, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
Six pavilions will be presented in the NY NOW HOME Collection: Brazil will be represented by Worldwide Import/Export with 27 companies; France will be represented by the returning UBIFRANCE with 18 companies and Chambre Regionale de Metiers et de l’artisanat IDF with six companies; India’s Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts will return with 30 companies; Japan’s JETRO New York will showcase 23 Japanese companies; and Malaysia’s Handicraft Development Corp. will return with eight companies.
As an extension of the HOME Collection, and within the juried Accent on Design, SOURCE from South Africa will return with 11 companies. In addition, there will be two independently organized contingents, Accent on Japan and the British Design Group, with five and two companies, respectively.
Global suppliers of handcrafted products also will participate in four pavilions within NY NOW HANDMADE. HANDMADE’s Designer Maker section will feature three: Chambre Regionale de Metiers et de l’artisanat IDF (France) returns with seven companies; Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH, Messe Stuttgart (Germany) returns with 15 artisans; and British Contemporary Crafts returns with 19 designer-makers. Within HANDMADE Global Design, Ecuador’s PROECUADOR returns with three companies.
In the NY NOW LIFESTYLE Collection, the United Kingdom’s British Jewellery and Giftware Exports pavilion will feature 27 companies while Germany’s Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH, Messe Stuttgart returns with 13 companies. The NY NOW NEW! Collection will showcase independent exhibitors from 20 countries at Pier 94.
The largest number of international groups at the New York market will be represented in Artisan Resource at New York’s Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94. Eight pavilions include: Cambodia’s Cambodia High Value Silk; Ecuador’s PROECUADOR; Ghana’s Export Promotion Authority; Indonesia’s Consulate General of Indonesia; Mexico’s PROMEXICO; Panama’s Ministry of Trade and Industry; Peru’s Peru Pavilion; and Tunisia’s Office National De L’artisanat Tunisien (ONAT)/Tunisian American Young Professionals (TAYP). With these pavilions and independently exhibiting overseas artisans, Artisan Resource will present exhibitors from nearly 30 countries overall.
