Tramontina Expands U.S. Cookware Production Capabilities
Tramontina USA will expand its cookware production capabilities at its Manitowoc, Wis., plant to meet the growing trend and demand for color and ceramic-coated cookware. The new production line is expected to be operational by spring 2014.Since 2005, Sugar Land, Texas-based Tramontina USA has been manufacturing aluminum nonstick cookware at its Manitowoc facility. NASFT Changes Name to Specialty Food Association
The National Association for the Specialty Food Trade has changed its name to the Specialty Food Association effective immediately.
The name change caps a yearlong celebration of the association’s 60th anniversary and comes as membership has reached a record 3,040 companies. It is part of a larger effort to draw attention and focus to the $75 billion specialty food industry with new branding that will be officially launched at the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York, June 30-July 2, 2013.

Small Appliance Sales Up 5 Percent in 2012, Reports NPD Group
The small appliance industry had a prosperous 2012. According to The NPD Group Inc., a global information company, U.S. small appliance sales gained 5 percent in dollars in 2012, on top of a 4 percent increase in 2011.
Noting that unit volume was down slightly, it was a favorable mix of higher-priced product that drove the growth in dollar sales. Clearly, the story is one of trading up, which was evident for the vast majority of small appliance categories.

Wild Bean Vanilla Co., in an effort to accommodate its growing customer base, has opened its first retail location in Mesa, Ariz., while also redesigning its website for easier navigation and faster loading times.
Owners Chad and Andrea Palmer’s first retail location gives local Arizona residents a retail store dedicated to gourmet vanilla beans, extracts and related products. The business previously had an industrial location to house merchandise, but opened the retail store to meet the demand of customers wanting to pick up the products locally.
