Santé Specialty Foods Makes Distribution Pacts
Santé Specialty Foods of Santa Clara, Calif., announced an expanded agreement with Tony’s Fine Foods, the largest privately owned distributor of deli, bakery, foodservice, specialty and perishable products in Northern California, which will allow Tony’s to distribute all nine flavors of Santé Nuts in the 4-ounce and 5-ounce packages to California, Hawaii, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.
Additionally, Santé signed with Carmela Foods, a specialty food and fine wine distributor servicing independent specialty food retailers, restaurants, country clubs, hotels and resorts throughout the state of Michigan and northern Ohio. Ocean’s Halo Partners With Monterey Bay Aquarium
Ocean’s Halo Seaweed Chips has teamed up with the nonprofit Monterey Bay Aquarium, one of the world’s premier aquariums and ocean conservation organizations, to share a common goal of inspiring conservation of the ocean. As part of this partnership, Ocean’s Halo will donate 2 percent of its profits to the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Children’s Education Fund.

It looks like shoppers are gravitating heavily to the Internet for their tabletop and dinnerware purchases. The Connecticut Specialty Food Association (CSFA) held its 13th Product Awards Competition in March during which 199 specialty food items from Connecticut-based manufacturers were entered in 36 categories.
Apple Pie Jam from Killam & Bassette Farmstead in South Glastonbury, Conn., was named the Food Product of the Year.
A panel of 25 judges consisting of local media personalities, food writers, Connecticut chefs and wine specialists scored products on overall taste/flavor, texture, aroma, and appearance. Each judge was assigned to specific categories, responsible for evaluating an average of 25 different products.
