La Colombe Coffee Roasters, an industry-leading quality-coffee company, announced that it has welcomed Hamdi Ulukaya, renowned food entrepreneur and founder, CEO, and chairman of Chobani LLC, America’s No. 1 Greek yogurt brand, as its sole investor. Chef Hari Pulapaka of Cress Restaurant, Deland, Fla., was named the winner of the Gold award at the inaugural Farm to Table Chefs Taste Challenge (CTC), which took place Aug. 7, 2015, at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. His winning creation was “NOLA – New Old Latin Asian,” which featured Hatch Green Chile Panna Cotta, Smoked Redfish Brandade, Redfish Ceviche, Eggplant Massaman.

Frontier Soups in Gurnee, Ill., has expanded its operations into a larger facility to accommodate the steady growth of its non-GMO, gourmet soup mixes and planned future growth.
The new facility in Gurnee houses all of Frontier Soups operations, including corporate headquarters, production and warehousing/shipping. Specialty Food Association Honored for Hunger Relief Efforts
The Specialty Food Association (SFA) has been awarded a Power of A Gold Award from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) for its work to help reduce hunger and increase food recovery via the grant making, education and industry events of its Specialty Food Foundation.
The foundation, established in 2014, in its first year gave $250,000 in grants to support 14 innovative organizations in 10 states that are working to address hunger and improve food recovery. Joel Schuman, 62, president of Source Atlantique, died following a multi-year battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Schuman was founding partner and managing director and served as president of the Englewood Cliffs, N.J.-based importer and marketer of specialty foods for more than 24 years. Previously, Schuman was vice president of sales and marketing at Liberty Richter; president of Cosmo Food; and president of Franzen North America.

Housewares Show Exhibitors Featured on “The Big Pitch”
Several exhibitors from the 2015 International Home + Housewares Show were featured on “The Big Pitch,” a new TV program from Kevin Harrington of “Shark Tank” fame.

KeHE Distributors of Naperville, Ill., has been selected by Albertsons Companies Inc. as the primary distribution partner for natural and organic, specialty and fresh products to its nationwide network of more than 2,200 grocery stores in 33 states and the District of Columbia.

H-E-B’s Primo Picks Quest for Texas Best contest has made one thing very clear: Texans are creative. This year’s variety and flavorful entries ignited the judges’ taste buds as they whittled more than 400 submissions from across the Lone Star State to 25 exceptional finalists.
Quest for Texas Best contest submissions came from 74 Texas towns, yielding a delicious mix of sauces, salsas, spices, sweets and spreads along with meats and mixes.
In two qualifying rounds, submissions were judged based on taste and flavor, customer appeal, value, uniqueness, market potential, and differentiation from products already available at most H-E-B stores.
