Chef Paul Prudhomme dies at age 75
Paul Prudhomme, the Cajun who popularized spicy Louisiana cuisine and became one of the first American restaurant chefs to achieve worldwide fame, died Oct. 1 at age 75.
Tiffanie Roppolo, the CFO of Prudhomme's businesses, which includes his Magic Seasoning Blends line, told The Associated Press that he died early Oct. 1 after a brief illness.
Prudhomme became prominent in the early 1980s, soon after opening K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen, a French Quarter diner that served the meals of his childhood. He had no formal training, but sparked a nationwide interest in Cajun food by serving dishes such as gumbo, etouffee ...

Study: One in 10 Americans Qualifies for ‘Ultimate Foodie’ Status
The term “foodie” has been loved and hated for more than three decades, and its definition has expanded over the years to include just about everyone who likes to eat. To better understand what “being a foodie” really means, French mustard maker Maille commissioned a new consumer research study, conducted by Ipsos with a representative sample of 3,000 people across the United States, United Kingdom and France in July 2015.

The Specialty Food Association Reports Consumers Are Spending More on Specialty Food
NEW YORK (Sept. 29, 2015) – Specialty food is drawing a new crowd this year. Men are stepping up purchases, less affluent shoppers are buying a wide variety of products like artisanal cheese and single-origin chocolate, and millennials are showing their age at the store.
