Omaha, Nebraska, January 3, 2017 – Union Pacific today announced acquisition of Railex LLC’s refrigerated and cold storage distribution assets in Delano, California; Wallula, Washington; and Rotterdam, New York. Acquisition does not include Railex Wine Services LLC.
Railex, a refrigerated rail service and third-party logistics leader, plays a key role in Union Pacific’s Food Network transporting fruits, vegetables and other temperature-sensitive cargo across the United States.

ROSEMONT, IL (Jan. 4, 2017)—The 2017 International Home + Housewares Show sold out in late December, more than 11 weeks before opening day, according to the International Housewares Association, the Show’s owner and operator. Runamok Maple, a maker of all-natural, organic maple syrup based in Cambridge, Vt., including a collection of barrel-aged, smoked and infused maple syrups, acquired Brattleboro-based Bascom Maple Farms’ maple candy operation.
The candy operation of Bascom Maple Farms, consisting of maple candy and maple butter, will be owned by Runamok Maple and operated under the name of True North Maple, a newly developed maple candy brand from Runamok Maple. Pamela Barefoot, founder and longtime president of specialty food company Blue Crab Bay Co. in Melfa, Va., has sold the company in an asset sale to Maryland native Elizabeth Lankford.
Lankford’s family is well known on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia. Her grandfather, Stanley, began Lankford Produce in 1964 and soon was joined by her father, Tom, and uncles, Fred and Jim. In 1981, Lankford Produce merged with Sysco Corp., of which Lankford-Sysco Food Services, now Sysco Eastern Maryland, became a vital subsidiary.
