Gourmet Business Summer Fancy Food Show Preview

Gourmet Business Summer Fancy Food Show Preview

The Summer Fancy Food Show (SFFS) is upon us, and I am excited for the return of this important event to the newly renovated Jacob K. Javits Center in New York. It is fitting, in my opinion, to have a trade event that showcases specialty foods from all over the world in a city that has a bona fide international flavor. It would appear, after all, that the development of the spe-

cialty food business evolved from the demand for authentic flavors and ingredients by the diverse nationalities that make up the population of our country. I can’t think of another place where this great American melting pot is more evident than in New York.

Our SFFS edition has an international flavor of its own, with special features on specific cuisines of the world along with notable new products from all categories of the specialty food business. I want to recognize our amazing team of editors that answered the call for “all hands on deck” to compile this large selection of the latest products coming to market to make sure our audience doesn’t miss a thing.

As part of the Javits renovation, the SFFS has expanded to include a new exhibition space located in a building constructed to the right of main hall. Gourmet Business will have its booth located there (booth 5301), so be sure to stop by and share your comments or feedback on our publication, and pick up a hard copy of this issue to keep as a desk reference. The new area will open earlier than the main hall in order to give everyone extra time to visit the booths in the new exhibit space.

In all the excitement, there will be something missing at this year’s show for us. Our colleague Arnie Bennett, who has not missed a Summer Fancy Food Show since the beginning of time, will unfortunately not be able to make the trip this year due to an important medical procedure. Please join us in wishing him a speedy recovery. We expect him to be back cruising the aisles under full power by the time the next show rolls around.

Enjoy the flavors of the show.
