This is around the time I start to have hopeful images of the spring that is about to come. Spring was supposed to have started just today, but my patio grill still hasn’t extricated itself from the remnants of a record snowfall season in Boston. To add insult to injury, at press time, it was snowing again. Despite the obstacles, I have already started to use the grill again because it is still the best and only cooking method in my opinion for preparing certain meals, even if I have to kneel to cook since the snowpack is at the height of the grate. 

For many who are not quite as impatient as me, sparking up the grill is akin to a declaration that a new season is upon us. It’s the same anticipation that drives people to the local nursery to buy flowers to plant in their yards to celebrate the start of a season that is perfect for playing, cooking and entertaining outdoors. It’s something to look forward to, and certainly provides an inspiration 

for spending money on the latest grilling gear! This unavoidable force will draw shoppers to your specialty stores where they will hopefully be met with a selection
of products to make them look forward to the big event. What’s your grill story going to look like? Not sure? Well, fortunately, Gourmet Business is here with a fresh batch of products that are sure to help the local grill lords master their art and enhance the overall experience. 

Word has it from everyone that I polled at the recent trade shows that the first quarter of this year was significantly better than that last year. Now we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief, I hope. The second quarter is right in front of us – let’s keep the momentum going!
