Gourmet Business - July 2015

It’s hard to believe that summer is already upon us, and we are looking forward to covering some of the upcoming trade events. The Las Vegas Market will be new to us, and we are excited to see the new showrooms, especially JURA’s recently established space, where I look forward to getting live demos of all of the new machines that they have recently introduced to market. I am sure the temporary exhibits will allow us to discover some new companies that were previously unknown to us too, which we will be sure to share with you in an upcoming issue. 

Later in the summer, we are proud to be the co-sponsor of a breakfast presentation in conjunction with NY NOW that should not be missed! Mimi Sheraton, the grande dame of food journalism and former restaurant critic for The New York Times, will be appearing to talk about her exciting new book, “1,000 Foods To Eat Before You Die: A Food Lover’s Life List.” Foodies rejoice because this book will be a master list of the world’s best dishes, ingredients, restaurants and markets that we should all strive to experience in our lifetime. I am excited to hear Mimi share some of her experiences and gastronomic highlights in person, not to mention picking up an autographed copy of the book for myself. If you’re heading to the show, this surely belongs on your “to do” list, or may be the inspiration for you to register for the show today. 

I hope you all get a chance to escape from your stores and get out to one or more of these markets. We have seen a lot of interesting new products that are expected to come to market just in time for the holidays, and we are in the process of assembling the top picks for our holiday gift guide coming along in the next issue.
