Gourmet Business - January 2016

Gourmet Business - January 2016

Happy New Year and welcome to the firrst issue of 2016. For most retailers in the house- wares, food, and/or gift industry, this post- holiday season calm is a time for taking stock, housekeeping, inventory taking, preparation for upcoming sales, and the start of the trade show season. It’s also a time to see just how many of those New Year’s resolutions will be followed. If your resolution was to start the year fresh, buy smarter, and have an even more successful year than 2015, we wish you the best of luck and we hope that we can help you do that throughout the year.

The team at Gourmet Business and our sister magazines is preparing for another round of trade shows, starting with the Winter Fancy Food Show in a few days in San Francisco (just a BART ride away for me thankfully), quickly followed by the Las Vegas Market—our second time at that show. Last August, the biannual show added a whole new gourmet gift section to the lineup and it promised to have even more companies showing this time around. We have a preview of the show this month, and if you’ve never been, we strongly urge you to check it out. Following Las Vegas we’ll be off to Frankfurt, Germany, in a few weeks for Ambiente, and before you know it, the House- wares Show in Chicago will be upon us.

We’ll also be taking a look this month at the latest in high-tech housewares as our Editor Joanne Friedrick reviews this ever-growing genre of products that is making life in the kitchen easy, faster, and more efficient. We have much more, too, including a gallery of exciting new products to look for. We wish everyone the best for a prosperous and happy 2016 and we look forward to seeing many of you in the aisles of the Javits Center, World Market Center, Frankfurt Messe, McCormick Place, or wherever your show travel plans take you. In the meantime, happy New Year and good luck.

Cheers!
