      <title>Fine Foods Quarterly April / May &amp;apos;25</title>
<description>It started, as these things often do, with a single video. A glossy chocolate bar was sliced open to reveal a dreamy green filling and a crisp, golden crunch. The bar was labeled simply &amp;quot;Dubai Chocolate,&amp;quot; and it hit all the right notes: decadent, luxurious, texturally irresistible. Within hours, TikTok exploded. By the time #DubaiChocolate hit a billion views, coffee houses from Dearborn to Dubai were rushing to stock (or recreate) the viral sensation.
But for those who work in the food industry, the rise of Dubai chocolate is more than a social media moment. It’s a case study in how cultural inspiration, viral storytelling, and familiar-yet-new flavors are reshaping the specialty sweets landscape.

<description>In a grocery store aisle flooded with oversweet, overcolored balsamic options, one truth remains: no one does vinegar quite like Italy. Specifically, no one does it like Modena. <title>Fine Foods Quarterly Sept. &amp;apos;24</title>
<description>We attend many of the important specialty food trade events on the calendar over the course of the year, and look for exceptional new products. This year specialty food producers and importers have rolled out many new products, some of which had been on hold during the pandemic. Once we have a chance to take it all in, we can better understand trends that are continuing to drive specialty foods as well as recognizing new and emerging trends that are gaining traction with consumers.
This has been a big year for the travel industry, with many key travel days setting new records for TSA screening. Many of those travelers were destined for international locations where they will experience new cultures and new and interesting foods and flavors. A natural extension of these experiences is that awareness of the unique foods of the world grows, and there is a natural tendency for consumers to want to recreate these experiences in their own homes by learning the recipes, ingredients, and techniques that are readily available in the media and accessible with technology. As Americans tastes have continued to evolve and become more sophisticated, the demand for authentic flavors (not Americanized versions) has grown. Specialty food marketers are recognizing this trend, and responding by using more traditional recipes and flavors to reproduce the foods in America, or by importing authentic foods and spices from their origins. The ready made sauces and spice mixes that are coming to market are more authentic than ever and include ingredients that still may be hard to find or correctly balance to obtain the right flavor. These products save time, and help satisfy the demand for meals with interesting and exotic flavors.
Now that Americans are returning to the office, work from home lunches are being replaced once again with easily portable, nutritious, and satisfying snacks that can help bridge the hunger gaps between bigger meals. The snack category has heeded the demand for better for you products and is doing their best to create snacks that are enticing while also having some beneficial and wholesome ingredients.
The trend toward healthier food formulations and ingredients has also influenced the new products coming to market that can improve the quality of ingredients being used to produce meals or products that are created to flavor or enhance the finished meal.
On the following pages we have chosen a unique collection of new products that seem to exemplify these strong trends, and deserve consideration to any specialty food retailer that is seeking to evolve their current assortment.

      <title>Fine Foods Quarterly April / May &amp;apos;24</title>
<description>There is still an intense focus in the specialty food market in making foods better and healthier. What does that mean for the sweets market? As you will see from the story written by my colleague Marilyn Hirsch in this issue, some sweet consumption can actually be a healthy thing, and add to the diversity of our snack choices too.
I had the pleasure of attending the ISM show in Cologne, Germany earlier in the year to learn about the latest new introductions to the sweets category from the suppliers of the world, and especially Europe. If you want to be up to date on everything that is sweet, you will find in this issue some of the interesting products I discovered during the show.
Snacks on the savory and healthy end of the snacking spectrum are still on trend, and we bring you up to date on the newest offerings in the category in case you want to taste a sample at the upcoming Sweets &amp;amp; Snacks Expo taking place in Indianapolis this month.

      <title>Fine Foods Quarterly - April &amp;apos;23</title>
<description>Another year has passed, and life has changed again for many Americans, which means that eating habits are changing too. In this issue our contributing editor Marilyn Hirsch explores the functional food category, which is growing in importance as consumers return to the workplace and engage their attention in their occupation.
The intersection of the desire that consumers have to eat responsibly, while living a lifestyle that is conducive to carrying a portable snack has spawned this new category of snacks that are functional and offer a satisfying eating experience at the same time. The evolution of these snacks has led to the creation of small and potent edibles that are formulated to deliver necessary dietary protein but also satisfy consumers desire to achieve balanced nutrition to fuel their bodies throughout the day. In this issue you will learn about some of the new offerings in this functional snack category that follow this important consumer trend.

      <title>Fine Foods Quarterly - Feb. &amp;apos;22</title>
<description>The Winter Fancy Food show returns to the show calendar this weekend in an all-new location in Las Vegas. Specialty food producers from all over the world are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to gather with retailers once again, and reveal their latest creations, packaging innovations, and line extensions.

Fortunately, throughout the Pandemic, demand has remained strong for these food products. Producers have continued to invest in innovation, which they are finally going to have the chance to share with their current and prospective trade partners.

In this issue you will discover a collection of the latest innovations from the world of specialty foods.

In order for specialty food producers to survive during these turbulent times, they had to find new avenues for sales to consumers who were demanding unique foods to enjoy during their increased time spent at home. The Internet provided a channel for specialty food companies to meet demand head on, and promote their products directly to the end consumer. This has created a new challenge of channeling the demand to a place where the product can be purchased. A challenge that the company Where To Buy helps solve so that suppliers and retailers can close the loop, and achieve better sales at point of purchase.

With the Passover holiday approaching, Kosher-for-Passover foods should be top of mind. One of the leaders of the category, Kayco, is featuring many modern foods that help home cooks create their own culinary masterpieces while adhering to Passover food guidelines.

The younger generation has also influenced the introduction of a variety of products that are friendly to the environment and help consumers reduce their impact on the earth. Americans are still striving to eat healthy, and product designers’ are creating new ideas to help consumers fulfill this goal effectively and efficiently. We will research some of these trends in greater detail in upcoming issues this year.
In the coming pages you will find a variety of new product introductions that have been grouped together around several categories including:
Kitchen Essentials – Food preparation, gadgets, and other helpers in the kitchen.

      <title>Fine Cheese &amp;amp; Charcuterie Fall 2019 - Editor's View</title>
<description>The weekday eating habits of Americans have evolved, with many foregoing a large sit down lunch in favor of smaller snacks throughout the day. This trend is giving rise to significant demand for snacking options that are easy to carry, and provide plenty of protein and nutrients to carry them through the day. Fortunately for producers of cheese and charcuterie, they have had the perfect answer to the call for delicious and healthy snacks all along. The only thing that was needed was some smart packaging and perfectly portioned serving sizes to position products for snacking success. Since the Millennial generation in particular seems to snack habitually, cheese and charcuterie producers are realizing that the snacking channel also provided an opportunity to introduce another generation to the delicious tastes that are awaiting them in the category. Cheese and charcuterie producers have recognized the selling opportunity, and are rolling out some outstanding offerings in the snack category.
In this issue you will find some of the interesting formats and combinations that have been developed to meet the rising demand, and satisfy anyone seeking a clean and healthy snack.</description>

<description>The market for household goods is experiencing strong demand for artisan products. These products add excitement, distinction, and eye appeal to any assortment. Manufacturers are heading the call, and you can see many design elements indicative of a hand made product finding their way into products manufactured on a larger scale. In the tabletop market products are being treated with glazing techniques that evoke an appearance of hand made pottery. In the housewares industry, a popular cookware finish is a hand-hammered copper exterior that is reminiscent of cookware that was pounded into a shape by hand. Now there are many companies actually producing and selling true artisan crafted products that are distinctive and unique. The place to go if you are seeking to add such products to your assortment is one of the summer markets happening in Atlanta and Las Vegas, where you will not only have a chance to see these products, you can also hear the amazing stories about how they are sourced.
